Aims and Objectives and Methods:

Organized by the International AIDS Society (IAS) since 2016, the campaign aims to raise awareness of non-discriminatory care for all health workers providing HIV prevention, treatment and support, while honoring health workers who provide care without stigma and discrimination.

The campaign also aims to better understand what motivates these health champions to provide inclusive and stigma-free services, to encourage the reproduction of their stories, and to encourage others to confront and combat stigma.

In 2024, the campaign expanded to Turkey. As Pozitif-iz Association, we took part in the campaign representing our country. We worked for the acceptance of #StigmaFreeCare and #Healthcare Without Prejudice in Turkey and around the world as a symbol of hope against the challenges of stigma and discrimination.

Outputs:

Out of 22 people nominated by people living with HIV, 4 champions were selected from Turkey. Here are Turkey's champions;

- Nurse Ayşe Akaltun, Ankara Çankaya Municipality Voluntary Counseling and Testing Center

- Clinical Pharmacist Metin Sinan Elmalıoğlu, Renk Pharmacy

- Clinical Psychologist Cansu Ecem Kesgin, Querencia Psychology

- Prof. Dr. Hüsnü Pullukçu, Ege University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Infectious Diseases.

The award ceremony of the campaign was held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at The Marmara Pera.
